NEW YORK (AVAFIN) -- Omnicare options contracts experienced a new 90-day record for call contracts where a total of 4,366 call contracts were traded in the busy trading session. The contract spread yielded a 0.97 put/call ratio where 1.0 call contracts were traded for each put contract.

The ratio skew implies that investors are hedging their positions in anticipation of a stock move. Today's unusual volume activity confirms that traders are re-balancing their portfolios.

On the volume side, 1M shares were traded which is greater than the average volume. Omnicare is trading above the 50 day moving average and higher than the 200 day moving average. Shares of OCR opened today at $39.66 and settled the day down $0.17 to $39.57 during the session. The day's trading range is between $39.42 and $39.97 respectively. Performance indicators show that the stock has gained 14.79% within the last quarter.
